Casting Call will be available for purchase in the near future.

Casting Call is plug-in for Autodesk's 3ds max that transfers the scene files from DAZ|Studio into 3ds max. Casting Call converts characters, wardrobe, scenery and props from DAZ|Studio into 3ds max. including all geometry, all attributes and morph channels, and all materials and maps.

DAZ Productions' DAZ|Studio is a software application that allows you to easily create beautiful digital art. You can use this software to load in people, animals, vehicles, buildings, props, and accessories to create digital scenes.

In addition to importing the complete character, Casting Call automatically rigs your characters using 3ds max’s native bones and skin, or Character Studio’s Biped and Physique, in any combination.

Casting Call enables all character design and wardrobe to be done in DAZ|Studio, and the rest of the work in 3ds max. There’s no need to return to DAZ|Studio each time a character needs to be posed or animated. The rigging is automatically set up, ready to animate facial expression and body movement.

Analysis and Control
Detailed analysis and reporting of the contents of a DAZ|Studio (.daz) file. This analysis is then used to allow the user unprecedented control over the import process. This includes control over which Figures, Actors, Props, Textures, Geometry and Morphs are imported, and how they are handled by Casting Call. Casting Call will also perform and automatic search for any files referenced by the DAZ|Studio file.
Mesh Importing
The user has exceptional control over the way the DAZ|Studio file is imported into 3ds max, including the use of helper objects, selection sets and max groups.

Control over the handling of imported mesh is also provided with the ability to scale and orient all geometry, as well as control the use of textures, texture coordinates, surface normals and smoothing.

Morphs
DAZ|Studio uses Morphs to shape the character, and give it expression. Casting Call translates DAZ|Studio Morphs into the 3ds max equivalents, and provides control over the 3ds max Morpher modifier setting for simple, consistent and predictable results.

Users can control which morphs are imported, which ones are animatable, and which become permanent characteristics of the character.

Texture Import
All textures and materials created in DAZ|Studio are faithfully reproduced in 3ds max. This ensures what you see in DAZ|Studio, is what you get in 3ds max.
Rigging
Casting Call provides automated rigging of all characters, and their wardrobes. Simply choose which system to use for the skin and the bones, and a system of skin and bones, is created to fit the character, and all their clothing.

When using max's native bones, you can also choose to add a system of rigging helper objects to assist in the posing and animation of the characters. The laborious task of rigging is greatly reduced by assigning the most difficult part to Casting Call.

Character Studio Support
In addition to handling the native max character rigging mechanisms, Casting Call provides full support for Discreet's Character Studio. Simply choose the Character Studio buttons in Casting Call, and your character will be fitted with a properly sized and fitted Biped, under the control of Physique.
